Mr. Joe Miera - President
Joe Miera is the Assistant Dean of the UNM College of Continuing Education and formally the Chief Administrative/Finance Officer of KNME Public Television. A graduate of Rio Grande High School, he received a BA in Business Administration from Arizona State University and is now a Master’s Degree candidate in Public Administration at the University of New Mexico. A dedicated husband and father, Joe still finds time to over see the GAHP finances. Joe joined the GAHP BOD in July 1998.
Ms. Dolly Sanchez de Rivera - Vice President
Dolly Sanchez de Rivera was born in Albuquerque’s Barelas neighborhood. She raised five children as a single mom in Southern California, while working for the Bank of America. Upon retiring from Bank of America in the early 1990s, Dolly returned to the Barelas neighborhood and the home she grew up in to care for her elderly mother. Dolly now spends her time as an aerobics instructor at the Barelas Community Center, is an active member of her church, and is a community activist and organizer. Dolly’s passion for community improvement and her commitment to community organizing bring much needed expertise to the GAHP BOD. Dolly joined the GAHP in October 2001.
Ms. Wilma McBride - Secretary
Wilma McBride is a former UNM Hospital Children Counselor, who spent numerous years as the director of UNM’s children’s program at the Trumbull Village Neighborhood. Now retired from her children’s counseling and health administrative responsibilities, Wilma is a licensed real estate broker and member of the Albuquerque Board of Realtors. Wilma’s long time connection working with the City and residents of the South East Neighborhoods, as well as her expertise in real estate sales, bring additional and needed skills to the GAHP BOD. Wilma joined the GAHP BOD in October 2001.
Mr. John Burch - Treasurer
John Burch is the Membership Manager for New Mexico’s KNME Television. A graduate of Louisiana State University, Mr. Burch has been involved in non-profit corporate fund raising for the past 16 years. Mr. Burch’s membership on the GAHP BOD brings much appreciated expertise in both individual and corporate fund raising. John joined the GAHP BOD in December 2001.
Mrs. Alvorn Clifton - Member
Alvorn Clifton, is the President of the Trumbull Village Neighborhood Association. In 2001, she received the New Mexico Governor's Outstanding Citizens Award for her work in ridding the Trumbull Neighborhood of drugs and crime, and working with the City and State to fund and build the Cesar Chavez Community Center in her neighborhood. Mrs. Clifton is active in both her church, and in fund raising efforts for minority student scholarships. Her community ties, and heart felt desire to improve the lives of others, have contributed greatly to the GAHP efforts in the Trumbull Village Neighborhood. Mrs. Clifton joined the GAHP BOD in January 1999.
Ruth Adams - Member
Ruth Adams, served as a City Councilor representing District 6 in Albuquerque's South-east Heights for 8 years from 1991-1999. As the former Councilwoman serving the Trumbull Village Neighborhood, Mrs. Adams worked with Mrs. Clifton to develop the Caesar Chavez Community Center. She also was instrumental in aiding improvements to the East Central Health Care Clinic. Mrs. Adams was an original member of the Downtown Action Team, and brings years of government experience, political expertise, and strong community ties to the GAHP BOD. Ruth joined the GAHP BOD in December 1999.
Mr. Christopher Calott - Member
Chris Calott, an adjunct professor at the UNM School of Architecture is an award winning architect with a national architectural practice focused on infill development and affordable housing. Chris lives in the Historic Downtown Neighborhood Area, a pocket of poverty neighborhood, and has dedicated himself to the City's downtown revitalization efforts. Chris's commitment to neighborhood revitalization and urban design excellence has contributed greatly to the GAHP efforts in developing quality well designed affordable homes. Chris joined the GAHP BOD in December 2000.
Ms. Carol Nordengren
Carol Nordengren lived in the Martineztown/Santa Barbara Neighborhood for almost 25 years, and served as the Secretary, Vice-Pesident, and President of its Neighborhood Association, before moving to Albuquerque's West Side in 2000. A retired counselor, from the Albuquerque Public Schools, Carol's strong organizational and leadership skills, as well as her commitment to revitalizing Albuquerque's historic pocket of poverty neighborhoods, have allowed her to successfully guide the GAHP through a major growth and rebuilding process. Carol joined the GAHP BOD in July 1999.
